Organic fair in Ljubljana also presents ECOGARD project

On 7th of September, Ljubljana hosted the 18th Organic Fair. Almost 70 organic farmers and businesses from Slovenia have presented their produce (vegetables, fruits, herbs), but also a wide range of processed foods, extra virgin olive oils, and even organic mussels; there was also organic cosmetics and eco cleaning products. Some 3.700 visitors attended the open air event in the heart of the Slovenian capital.
Institute for Sustainable Development, the ECOGARD partner from Slovenia, as the organiser of the Organic Fair dedicated this already traditional event to the celebration the 20th birthday of the Central Organic Farmers’ Market in Ljubljana. ISD established this market as the 1st of its kind in Slovenia. It grew from 2 stalls in 1999 to currently 35 stalls every Saturday, demonstrating how the interest for organic products is growing, also through the ever increasing amount and range of offered products.
The Organic Fair was a great opportunity to present ECOGARD project not only to the visitors, but also to the exhibitors as potential employers of the students who may graduate from the ECOGARD’s vocational education training course for organic gardening workers.
